Deadlock the game

I'm writing this blog post to touch this website again but also to let you know about why I haven't been working on it. I recently asked someone to give me access to Deadlock since I thought the game looked like it was in a state I thought could be a good first impression.

For context: Deadlock is a game currently being developed by Valve and is invite-only playtesting. This has been going on for at least 2ish years, and the game definitely looks way better than it once did. There are still some animations and models/rigs being reused, but that's part of an underdevelopment game.

It's a hybrid of a MOBA and shooter game, which, in my opinion, is better than having just either of the two. I've tried League of Legends for like 5 minutes and instantly disconnected and uninstalled the game. It was just too boring and too many things to learn. I've played many shooters, so that's getting a little stale.

Deadlock is doing both genres, and it works perfectly. You definitely need mechanical skill to be good at this game, but if your MOBA side is lacking, you're probably getting stomped by the enemy team if you don't have a good shot caller to listen to.

All that to say is I'm very much looking forward to Deadlock's eventual full release, but even in the state the game is now, I'm hooked enough to unconsciously take time from my other hobbies to play more Deadlock.
