New laptop, new school, new job
Yesterday I received my Framework 13 Pro, and I'm pretty happy about it. I bought the pre-built + Ubuntu version, and it's incredibly small and light (not quite, but almost MacBook Air-ish), but the 3:2 aspect ratio definitely makes up for it.
I had an issue where my right Ctrl was set as a co-pilot key in the BIOS, which is something I was debugging for a bit because initially I couldn't find anything on the Framework forums, but after trying to fix the problem myself for a bit, I tried searching again and found a post about it.
I always wanted a Framework product but never had a good reason to purchase one. When the Pro was announced, I knew it would be a considerable upgrade compared to what I had so I went for it and I cant say I regret it.
One of the main reasons is because I'm going to do ICT at HAN. Battery life on my old laptop was decent but pretty bad considering where Apples at. The Framework 13 pro can run on battery for a very long time which is pretty new for Linux / Windows laptops. It also runs very quiet and cool because it draws so little power which is great for having it on your lap if you do that often.
I'm also going to be working at B302 which is a mostly student run company so they mostly use their own hardware. I've removed Ubuntu and installed Archlinux which went super smoothly. Any hickup was my own fault and there weren't many. The Touchscreen and fingerprint reader just work.
